The South Australian Government has established a Royal Commission to inquire into early childhood education and care, including 3-year-old preschool – with a view to that starting from 2026.
Former Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard AC is the Royal Commissioner leading this work.
In this segment, we hear from Caroline Croser-Barlow, Executive Director, Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care.
The Royal Commission will inquire into three areas; the first 1000 days of life, universal quality preschool for three- and four-year-olds and greater access to out of school hours care for preschool and primary school aged children.
The Commission will also consider benefits for greater workforce participation by parents if they have greater access to early learning and out of school hours care, the ECEC sector and its workforce and provision of services outside metropolitan Adelaide.
