Show Notes

With the social distancing directions of COVID-19 placing significant restrictions on South Australians travelling - particularly to regional areas - there may be an expectation that the number of lives lost on our roads would be considerably lower.

It appears that this is not the case.

Forty-five South Australians lost their lives in 2020, compared to 47 this time last year.

After being temporarily being suspended in March as a safety precaution during the COVID-19 pandemic, static and block Random Breath Testing (RBT) operations resumed on 22 May.

During this period of suspension, mobile RBT operations were consistently conducted. In fact over 26 000 tests have been conducted since COVID-19 restrictions have been in force.

On this episode of ‘Our State’, SAPOL’s Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott and Superintendent Bob Gray talk about road safety and traffic services in the weeks ahead.
